Happy April Fool’s Day…and here’s the weekly blur Group blogs recap

April Fool's DayWell, well, well…it seems we caused a bit of a stir with our April Fool’s hoax this week.

We ‘fessed up yesterday that Forbes’ nominating blur Group as the world’s third most disruptive company was a massive stitch-up, just as many parts of the world were already waking up to their very own regional pranks.

If the fake search boxes and ‘all-links-lead to blur Group’s website’ didn’t give the game away, the animated GIF we’ve now uploaded, alternating between the original header and an April Fool’s banner, leaves no doubt as to the intentions of this particular ruse.

Meanwhile, the web is already littered with hoaxes, and sorting out the bizarre-but-genuine stories from the bull**** isn’t always easy. Is Ryanair really going to offer child-free flights? Sounds good, but we doubt it. And self-repairing screens for cracked mobile phone screens? Please, pull the other one.

Stay tuned to blur Group’s blog where we’ll bring you a compendium of some of the top April Fool’s Day pranks later today.

Anyway, without further digression, here’s a quick snapshot of some of the top posts from across blur Group’s network of blogs.

The focus over at Innovatrs this week was on mobile, and Monday kicked things off with a look at some key trends and innovations from across the mobile phone industry. Later, we also took a look at the best way to build a brilliant business blog, whilst the German Expressionism exhibit arriving at the MoMA in New York also got a look-in.

And we left you with this final thought on Monday: should businesses advertise ‘in-app’, or build their very own app? It’s a tricky one.

Tuesday got off to an educational flyer, with our behemoth social media glossary for beginners, followed swiftly by a look at Eurostar’s new logo and why localisation is so important for Coke and the Creative Services Exchange (CSX).

Crowdsourced mobile phone network, giffgaff, got a look-in on Wednesday’s Innovatrs mobile focus blog post, and Coca-Cola taking two identical products and marketing them to different demographics formed part of blur Marketing’s blog focus.

And then there was Thursday - the day before April Fool’s Day. Once we were done musing over why the only way is up for mobile and social marketing, we focussed our efforts on all that Forbes-Disrupt tomfoolery mentioned earlier.

So there you have it…another busy week at blur Group HQ. And remember, we’ll be posting some of the best April Fool’s Day hoaxes from across cyberspace here later on this afternoon. See you then!
