Crowdsourcing: Its Child’s Play!

7/12/2010 | blur Group | James | No Comments

Crowdsourcing is officially down with the kids! Yes, that’s right. The latest innovation in the business and tech world has reached the children’s market.

A new, cross country, cross industry project is taking place this fine festive month, inviting children and families around the world to contribute to the world’s largest curated exhibition of children’s arts and crafts. All of this will be in the guise of an advent calendar, I must admit I prefer chocolate in mine but I’m pleased to see that the Crowdsourcing message is hitting home at such a young age!

The project is a collaboration between a group of parents who are children’s book illustrators, software engineers, handmade toys and children’s fashion artisans and educators, who want to encourage parents to use digital technology to support their children’s creativity. The group use the collective title of  Being Prudence and are inviting children and families worldwide to contribute. Being Prudence are spread over The U.S, Canada, Australia, and The U.K and being of various faiths promise to be respectful to all religious events at this, most wonderful, time of the year.

The calendar, based on the web, promises to offer a daily surprise from an illustrator, along with a suggested fun family or craft activity. Parents and children will be asked to upload images of their experiences to add to the exhibition. The exhibition promises to feature every contribution, whilst keeping a curated experience for families to protect them from spammers and privacy issues.

The exhibition is free and open to anyone to contribute, so if you’re a parent or a clever kid reading this, participate with Felicity from Thin Air here!
