The Christmas season is in full swing and O2 have come up with a novel, Crowdsourced way to celebrate the season to be jolly…
We all love a Christmas panto in Britain. It’s as traditional as minced pies, crackers and post Christmas party hangovers. The only complaint I have is that they can be a bit on the long side. Kudos goes to O2 then for coming up with the festive season’s most novel way to spread a bit of Christmas joy. Customers are being offered the chance to create their own 20-second digital pantomime, with users then invited to share their online panto, change the cast or enjoy an encore. All communication is framed within the traditional red curtains of a panto stage.
9.7 million O2 customers will be sent texts encouraging them to click through to the site, where they can customise four characters – Prince Charming, Cinderella, an Ugly Sister and the Fairy Godmother. Each performance raises 50 pence for charity, with O2 hoping to raise a total of £10,000.
Jess Plumbe of O2, said: “The world’s fastest panto is a very engaging and fun communication that touches all facets of our business. The idea actually started out as a campaign for one team, but it was loved so much by the other parts of the company, that we decided to send it out more widely for all to enjoy.”
We at blur Group are loving O2′s 20 second panto idea. If you’re with O2, make sure you get Crowdsourcing with Cinderella and make some money for charity this Christmas.
